Steven Green

Founding Partner & Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Green is a founding partner at Piñon Midstream and serves as Chief Executive Officer. With more than 15 years of experience in engineering and operations leadership roles within the midstream sector, Mr. Green brings to Piñon Midstream extensive experience in the engineering, construction and operation of natural gas pipelines, compression, sour gas treating, and cryogenic processing plants.

Most recently, Mr. Green spent seven years at Caiman Energy II and Blue Racer Midstream, where for the past three years he was senior vice president of engineering and operations. In this role he was directly responsible for daily operations of 1.3 Bcf/d of natural gas processing and gathering along with 134,000-bbl/d of liquids fractionation. Prior to Caiman Energy, he held roles of increasing responsibility at Plains Gas Solutions and Regency Energy Partners, with an emphasis on engineering and operations of natural gas gathering and processing assets. Most notably during this time, Mr. Green oversaw the engineering and installation of three cryogenic processing facilities, the operations of five cryogenic processing facilities and operations of a sour gas gathering system and treating facility that included 3,000 GPM of amine treating and a sulfur recovery unit.

Mr. Green received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Mississippi State University. He lives with his family in Katy, Texas.

Adam M. Wilson

Chief Commercial Officer

Adam serves as Piñon’s Chief Commercial Officer and brings more than 15 years of energy industry experience to Piñon Midstream with a background in upstream oil and gas and a focus on midstream and marketing.

Most recently, Mr. Wilson was the director of midstream and marketing at Ascent Resources. At Ascent, he developed and executed strategic midstream solutions, growing the company from a start-up to a top-10 U.S. producer of natural gas, with over 2.0 billion cubic feet per day. Mr. Wilson directed all well connections, oil marketing, and NGL marketing while also supporting Ascent’s A&D and development teams in various growth initiatives. Prior to Ascent, he was director of midstream and marketing for American Energy Partners, LP (AELP), where he was responsible for all midstream and marketing across multiple assets in Oklahoma, Texas, West Virginia, Ohio and Louisiana. Additionally, he participated in over $12 billion worth of A&D projects in less than 2 years. Prior to AELP, he held roles of increasing responsibility at Chesapeake Energy, most recently as manager of commercial services for the Northern Division. In that capacity, he helped grow the Appalachian Basin from approximately 200,000 Mcfe per day to 3.5 Bcfe per day by executing several gathering, processing, fractionation and transportation agreements.

Mr. Wilson received his Bachelor of Arts in both business economics and modern American history from Brown University. He lives with his wife and two children in Oklahoma City, OK.

David Cargill

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Cargill serves as Chief Financial Officer at Piñon Midstream. He brings 15 years of energy experience to the Piñon team, with a background in upstream oil and gas, financial services and commodities.

Most recently, Mr. Cargill was manager of business development and planning for Hawkwood Energy. At Hawkwood, he was directly involved in over 35 A&D transactions, growing Hawkwood’s Eagle Ford position to over 150,000 net acres. Prior to Hawkwood, he was an analyst in the Natural Resources Investment Banking group at J.P. Morgan, where he participated in over $8 billion of M&A and capital markets transactions with public and private clients. Prior to J.P. Morgan, Mr. Cargill was a risk analyst for Merrill Lynch Commodities in Houston.

Mr. Cargill received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from Texas A&M University. He lives with his wife and three children in Houston, Texas.

Patrick Westerheide

General Counsel

Mr. Westerheide joined Piñon in August of 2022 and serves as General Counsel. He brings over 10 years of legal experience with a background in upstream oil and gas operations and a primary focus on midstream and marketing transactions, capital markets transactions, and corporate governance.

Prior to joining Piñon, Mr. Westerheide worked in various legal roles of increasing responsibility at Ovintiv Inc.; Ascent Resources, LLC; Permian Resources, LLC; and American Energy Partners, LP. Over the course of his career, he has assisted in the funding and deployment of over $16 billion of debt and equity capital, the structuring and restructuring of multiple oil and gas investment vehicles and the negotiation of numerous complex commercial contracts.

Mr. Westerheide earned his Bachelor of Business Administration (summa cum laude), Master of Business Administration and Juris Doctorate (with honors) from the University of Oklahoma. He is a member of the State Bar of Oklahoma and lives in Denver, CO.

J. Chris Kassen

Vice President of Operations

Mr. Kassen serves as Vice President of Operations at Piñon Midstream. He brings 9 years of midstream experience to the Piñon team with a background in engineering and operations. 

Most recently, Mr. Kassen was Sr. Director of Operations at Lucid Energy Group. At Lucid, he was responsible for operations and maintenance of 1.4 Bcf/d of cryogenic processing, 30,000 Bbl/d of liquid stabilization, and 6,400 GPM of amine treating including sour gas treating and disposal. Prior to his operational role, Mr. Kassen was responsible for engineering and optimization of Lucid's existing and growth-related infrastructure. Prior to Lucid, he held roles of increasing responsibility at Southcross Energy Partners ranging from engineering and project management to daily operations and maintenance of multiple processing, treating, and fractionation facilities.  

Mr. Kassen received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University. He lives with his wife and daughter in Houston, Texas.
